Reports answer specific questions from the operational database. Insights summarizes the day-to-day shape of the business. They are different tools and they will not always agree, because they count over different periods and different states.

Insights

Day-to-day performance, orders and promotions, over a period you choose. Use it to notice change; use a report to explain it.

The report catalog

Reports cover income and billing, clients and accounts, orders and products, support, and affiliates. Each takes its own parameters. A report is a question with a date range, not a live dashboard, and re-running one tomorrow will legitimately produce a different answer for the same range if records changed.

How the numbers are counted

Income
Counted from settled transactions, not from issued invoices. An unpaid invoice is not income.
Period
Ranges are inclusive of both endpoints and use the installation’s configured timezone.
Currency
Multi-currency figures are converted at the stored rate. A report run after a rate change may restate an earlier period.
Canceled records
Canceled invoices and orders are excluded from revenue but remain in count-based reports.
Reconcile against the gateway, not against another report.

When a figure is disputed, the payment provider’s own statement is the authority. Two WBAMS reports disagreeing usually means they are counting different states, not that one is wrong.

Dashboard widgets

The dashboard is assembled from widgets, each of which can be shown, hidden, reordered or collapsed per administrator. A widget that reports zero when you expect a number is usually a permission: widgets respect the same permissions as the pages behind them.

External analytics

Traffic and product analytics are configured separately and answer different questions from the reports above. See Analytics and insights.
